Andrew Paul Smith, Lab Manager

I am the lab manager for Bruce Levin’s Laboratory (EcLF). My duties include maintaining the lab, working on equipment, and ensuring the folks in the lab don’t kill one another (on purpose or accidentally). I received my Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alabama, where I majored in political science, criminal justice, and religious studies. Current projects I am involved in include the daily task of ensuring the lab does not burn down, but I also assist with the preparation and execution of all experiments in the lab. Such preparation includes the creation and maintenance of liquid and solid medias, procurement of equipment for experiments, maintenance of special equipment, and most importantly, the brewing of coffee. In particular, I have been involved with the immune system studies of Galleria mellonella.
