Turner MacInnis
I am a rising sophomore Biology student on the pre-medical track in the Emory College of Arts and Sciences. Since starting as an undergraduate researcher in Levin laboratory, I have been studying the bacteriophage population dynamics at differing glucose concentrations. I have an interest in the ecology of the gut microbiome and both how the gut impacts people’s health as well as how the gut microbiome is impacted by antibiotic therapies. I’m also fascinated by alternatives to antibiotics like phage therapy as solutions for multi-drug resistant bacterial infections. The work done in this lab has furthered my motivations for a career in medicine and applying science to help others.
