As a recent graduate of Emory University, I'm currently in my gap year, working as a research technician in the Levin Lab. I'm currently on a team conducting a population dynamics study on CRISPR-Cas in the Bruce Levin Laboratory. Our project focuses on understanding how CRISPR-Cas systems protect Staphylococcus aureus from phage infections, and the differences between acquiring this defense in structured and liquid environments. This work builds upon my previous research experience, including my involvement in investigating the role of minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) with the mutation rates and persistence levels along with its role in antibiotic pharmacodynamics. Through these experiences, I've developed a keen interest in infectious diseases and antibiotic resistance, driving my aspirations for a career in medicine to contribute to addressing these global health challenges.
